"Zebra" Sour Cream Pie Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • ¾ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted (plus extra for greasing)
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and line the bottom of a pie dish with parchment paper. Grease the bottom and sides with butter.
  2. In a bowl, combine the flour and baking soda. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar using a mixer until you achieve a light and creamy consistency.
  3. Add the sour cream to the egg mixture and blend well. Pour in the melted butter and mix again until combined. Gradually add the flour mixture, beating with a mixer until smooth.
  4. Divide the batter into two equal portions. Mix cocoa powder into one portion until fully incorporated.
  5. Spoon 2 tablespoons of the light batter into the center of the prepared pie dish. Then, pour 2 tablespoons of the chocolate batter on top, directly in the center. Continue layering the batters until all the batter is used.
  6. To create a decorative pattern, use a wooden stick to draw lines from the edge of the dish to the center in various places.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 40 minutes. Check for doneness with a toothpick; it should come out clean from the center of the pie.
